Rule 7 Recruitment of Applicants, Notice

When there's an opening for a judge, commission members are allowed to reach out to people they think would make good judges and encourage them to apply. This means commissioners don't just have to wait for applications to come in on their own. They can actively look for qualified candidates and invite them to put their names forward.

Once the commission learns that a judge's position is open or about to open up, the chairperson has to tell the other commission members right away. The commission then has to make this vacancy known to the public. This gives everyone a fair chance to find out about the opening and apply if they're interested and qualified.
