Rule 22 Exceptions to Master's Report

If you disagree with a master's report in a Land Court case, you can file a formal objection called an "exception." This rule explains how to do that properly.

You need to file your exception with the court registrar. Right after you file it, you must let the other side know about it. The court will then schedule a time for both sides to argue about it.

Your exception has to clearly explain exactly what part of the report you're objecting to and why. Be specific. If you don't spell out exactly what you're challenging, the court won't consider your objection valid. In other words, vague complaints won't work. You need to point to the exact problem and explain your reasoning clearly.
