Rule 128 Release of Registration

If a trust ends or moves its main administrative base to a new location, someone needs to formally close out its registration with the court. This is done by filing a document called a Release of Trust Registration with the clerk of the court in the judicial circuit where the trust is currently registered.

This document needs to include the same basic information required when the trust was first registered, plus an explanation of why the registration is being released. If the trust is simply moving its administrative base to a new place (rather than ending), the filing must also state where the trust is moving to. It must include a copy of the new registration statement that was filed in that new location.

In short, this rule makes sure there's a clear paper trail when a trust registration ends or moves. It keeps the court's records accurate and lets anyone checking on the trust know where things stand.
