Rule 151 Case Number and Caption

When someone files a petition asking the court to determine that a person has died, the court clerk gives that case a special number starting with "P. No." This number stays with the case from that point forward.

Any later probate matters involving that same person, in the same circuit, must use this same case number. This keeps all the paperwork and proceedings connected to one person organized under a single file, so the court and anyone involved can easily track everything related to that case.
