Rule 84 Supplemental Accounting; Final Receipts

Once the court approves the final accounting of an estate, the person handling the estate (called the personal representative) must give out the remaining property to the people who are supposed to get it. They then need to file paperwork showing that these people actually received their share. This paperwork is called "final receipts."

Sometimes money comes in or goes out after the final accounting was already filed, like a late refund or a final bill. If that happens, the personal representative also needs to file a "supplemental accounting" that shows these extra transactions.

Once the final receipts are filed, and the supplemental accounting too if needed, the personal representative's job is officially done. They don't need to go back to court and ask for anything else. Filing these papers automatically closes out their responsibilities for the estate.
