The Idaho Supreme Court has the power to send a case back to itself after it has already handed that case off to the Court of Appeals. This can happen at any point, even after the Court of Appeals has started working on it.
Once the Supreme Court decides to take the case back, it issues an order canceling the earlier assignment. As soon as that order is entered, the Court of Appeals must stop working on the case completely. From that point on, only the Supreme Court will handle it.
For people involved in a case, this means the court handling their appeal could change. If this happens, any further decisions, hearings, or rulings will come from the Supreme Court instead of the Court of Appeals.
