Rule 797 Confidentiality

When the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Board looks into a lawyer's conduct, everything involved in that process is kept private. The files, records, and proceedings are not open to the public.

That information can only be shared in a few specific situations. The Board can use it to do its own work. It can also be shared if the people involved give written permission, if a court orders it, or if a proper legal subpoena requires it.

This means that if someone files a complaint against a lawyer, that complaint and any related records are generally kept secret. The public will not have access to them unless one of those exceptions applies.
