Rule 106 Notice of Petitions Filed for Relief From, or Revival of, Judgments

If you want to ask a court to reopen, change, or revive an old judgment, you have to let the other party know you filed that request. You cannot just file the paperwork and wait for a decision without telling the other side.

The rule says you must notify the other party using the same methods required under Rule 105. Those methods include things like sending notice by certified mail or having someone personally serve the other party with the paperwork.

This matters because the person affected by the judgment has a right to know you are trying to change it. Skipping this step could get your request thrown out.
