Rule 183 Extensions of Time

If you need more time to file paperwork or complete a required step in your case, you can ask the court for an extension. You have to show a good reason why you need more time, and the other side in your case must be notified about your request.

The court can grant this extra time whether you ask before your deadline passes or even after you have already missed it. The key is that you must have a legitimate reason for the request.
