Rule 452 Preparation of Sentencing Orders.

When a judge sentences someone in a criminal case, the court must create a written order that spells out the sentence and any fines, fees, or other costs the person owes. The order must also list any credits the person has earned, such as time already spent in jail.

It is the prosecutor's job to write up this order, not the judge or the defense. Before turning it in to the court, the prosecutor must show the order to the defendant or their lawyer so they can look it over first.
