Rule 401 Definition of "relevant Evidence"

Relevant evidence is any piece of information that helps make something important to the case seem more or less likely to be true. It does not have to prove something completely on its own. It just needs to move the needle in some direction.

For example, if someone is on trial for theft, a video showing them near the store that day would be relevant. It does not prove they stole anything, but it makes it more likely they were involved. That connection to the case is what matters.
