Rule 610 Religious Beliefs or Opinions

If someone is testifying in court, their religion cannot be used to make them look more or less trustworthy. It does not matter what religion a witness follows or whether they have any religious beliefs at all.

A lawyer cannot bring up someone's faith to suggest they are more likely to lie or more likely to tell the truth. A person's religion is simply off the table when it comes to judging whether their testimony should be believed.
