Rule 2.16 Cooperation with Disciplinary Authorities

Judges must be honest and cooperative when a judicial or lawyer disciplinary agency investigates them. They cannot hide information or be misleading during these investigations.

Judges are also forbidden from retaliating against anyone who helped with or cooperated in a disciplinary investigation. This protection covers both people who are known to have helped and people the judge only suspects may have helped. Retaliation can take many forms, so both direct and indirect payback are prohibited.
