Rule 1.11 11. Alternative Dispute Resolution Plans

If a county wants to offer alternative dispute resolution, like mediation, as an option for court cases, it can't just start the program on its own. The county first has to create a written plan that explains how the program will work.

That plan then goes to the Indiana Judicial Conference. From there, the plan needs to be approved by the Chief Administrative Officer of the Indiana Office of Judicial Administration before the county can actually run the program. This process makes sure alternative dispute resolution programs across the state meet the same basic standards before they get up and running.
