Rule 8.5 5. Good Faith

When you go to mediation in Indiana, you're expected to show up and genuinely try to work things out. This means being honest and open, not just going through the motions. Sharing information with the other side is encouraged because it helps everyone understand the issues and find common ground.

That said, good faith participation doesn't mean you have to agree to a settlement. You can take the process seriously, share what's needed, and still walk away without a deal if you can't find terms that work for you. The rule protects your right to say no while still expecting you to give the process a real chance.
