Rule 1 Scope

This rule explains which court proceedings the Indiana Jury Rules apply to. Rules 2 through 10 cover how grand juries are put together and chosen. All other rules in this set apply to regular trial juries, also called petit juries, covering how they are brought in, picked, and handled during a case.

In short, this rule acts as a table of contents. It tells you where to look depending on whether you're dealing with a grand jury or a trial jury. If your case involves a regular jury trial, most of the rules will apply to you. If it involves a grand jury investigation, you'll want to focus on Rules 2 through 10 specifically.
