Rule 6.1209 Quarterly publication

Every three months, the North Western Reporter publishes a list showing what happened to certain court decisions. This applies to short rulings the Iowa Supreme Court makes without a full written opinion, known as per curiam decisions, along with other decisions covered under rule 6.1203.

Most of these short rulings don't get published in full. Instead, they just show up on this quarterly list so people can see the outcome. The only exception is when the Supreme Court specifically decides that a case should be published the normal way, with the full opinion included.

For someone involved in a case, this means that if your case was decided through one of these shorter rulings, you may not find a complete written explanation in the regular court records. Instead, the result of your case will appear on this quarterly list, unless the court chose to publish it in full.
