Rule 6.303 Briefing

If you're involved in an appeal that's being handled on an expedited (faster) basis, this rule tells you how to prepare your written arguments and when they're due.

Your brief has to follow the same formatting rules that apply to regular appeals. These formatting requirements are spelled out in rules 6.903 and 6.904, and they cover things like how the document should look and what it needs to include.

The big difference with expedited cases is timing. Instead of following the normal deadlines for filing briefs, you have to meet the shorter deadlines set out in rule 6.902(2). This means you'll have less time to get your brief written and filed, so it's important to start working on it right away and keep track of the shorter deadline that applies to your case.
