Rule 6.501 Procedure in other proceedings

If you're dealing with a type of appeals court case that isn't specifically covered by other rules, like asking the Iowa Supreme Court to use its original jurisdiction, you still need to follow the standard appellate rules. The only exception is if a specific law or constitutional provision about that type of case says something different.

In other words, the normal appeals process rules act as the default. Unless a court order says otherwise, or unless a specific law creating that type of case requires a different approach, you should follow the same rules that apply to regular appeals.
