Rule 1.1304 Petition

If you're filing a lawsuit that challenges someone's right to hold a public office, franchise, or other similar position, you need to explain in your petition why you're bringing the case. Your petition must clearly lay out the legal reasons behind your claim.

If other people besides the person you're suing also claim rights to that same office, franchise, or position, you need to name them in your petition too. This means if there are multiple people who might have a claim to the same job or right, you can't just sue one person and ignore the others. The rule also allows those other people to be added as parties to the case, so the court can sort out everyone's claims at once instead of dealing with separate lawsuits later.

This rule basically makes sure all the people with a stake in the outcome are identified upfront. It helps the court resolve the whole dispute in one case, rather than having new lawsuits pop up later from people who weren't included the first time.
