Rule 1.233 Permissive joinder of defendants

If you're suing more than one person or company over the same problem, you can often name them all in a single lawsuit. This works when the claims against each defendant come from the same event, deal, or set of related events, and when there's at least one legal or factual question that applies to all of them.

The people being sued don't have to be responsible in the same way. One might be fully responsible, another might share the blame, and you might not even be sure yet which one is at fault. As long as the claims connect back to the same underlying situation, you can bring them together in one case instead of filing separate lawsuits.

This rule saves time and money for everyone involved. It also helps make sure the same facts get sorted out once, in front of one judge, instead of being argued over and over in different cases.
