Rule 1.412 Paragraphs; separate statements

When you file a claim or defense in court, you need to break it into numbered paragraphs. Each paragraph should focus on just one set of facts or circumstances, not a mix of different things. This makes it easier for everyone, including the judge, to follow what happened and respond to specific points. Once a paragraph is numbered, later documents in the case can refer back to it by that number instead of repeating everything again.

If you have more than one claim, and each claim comes from a different event or situation, you should list them as separate counts. The same goes for defenses. If keeping things separate makes the case clearer and easier to understand, then you should organize your paperwork that way. The goal is to keep court documents organized so that each issue can be addressed on its own.
