Rule 1.506 Stipulations regarding discovery procedure

Parties in a lawsuit can agree among themselves on how discovery will work, as long as the court doesn't say otherwise. Discovery is the process where each side gathers information and evidence from the other side before trial.

If both sides agree in writing, they can set their own rules for taking depositions. This means they can choose who will conduct the deposition, when and where it happens, how much notice is given, and how it's carried out. As long as they agree to these terms in writing, the deposition can still be used later just like any other deposition taken under the standard rules.

The parties can also agree in writing to change how other types of discovery work, like written questions or requests for documents. This gives people involved in a case some flexibility to work out arrangements that fit their situation, instead of always following the standard court procedures. However, if the court steps in and issues an order about how discovery should be handled, that order takes priority over any agreement the parties made.
