Rule 1.916 Saturday a religious day

If you are on a jury and your religious faith requires you to observe Saturday as a holy day, the court cannot force you to show up for jury duty on that day. This protection applies while the case is still going on, before it goes to the jury for a final decision.

This means the court has to work around your religious beliefs during the trial. Once the case has been handed over for final deliberation, though, this rule no longer applies. The point of this rule is to make sure people don't have to choose between doing their civic duty on a jury and following their religious practices.
