Rule 16.402 Transcripts

When a court reporter creates a transcript, it has to be filed electronically instead of on paper. The transcript must be saved in a secure format that follows the rules set by the state court administrator and the formatting rules in Iowa Rule of Appellate Procedure 6.803(2).

If the transcript is for a case being appealed from district court, it must be filed as a searchable PDF. This means someone can use the search function to find specific words or sections instead of reading through the whole document page by page. The transcript goes into the district court's electronic case file so it becomes part of the official record.
