Rule 16.408 Clerk of court certification of documents

If you need an official, certified copy of a document that was filed electronically with the court, you can get one from the clerk of court. You can request this certified copy either electronically or in paper form, whichever works best for you.

There is a fee for getting a certified copy, and that fee amount is set by Iowa law and court rules, not by the individual clerk's office. This means the cost should be the same no matter which courthouse you visit.

When the clerk certifies your document, they can use a digital or electronic signature and seal instead of a traditional ink signature and stamp. This electronic certification is just as valid and official as a certification done the old-fashioned way.
