Rule 51:2.1 Giving Precedence to the Duties of Judicial Office

Judges have to put their courtroom work first. If a judge has other activities outside of court, like teaching, speaking at events, serving on a board, or personal hobbies, none of that can come before their job as a judge.

This means a judge can't let outside interests interfere with hearing cases, writing rulings, or handling other court business. If there's ever a conflict between a judge's personal life and their official duties, the official duties have to win out. The point is to make sure judges stay focused on serving the public and doing their job well, rather than letting side activities get in the way.
