Rule 52.23 Compensation of witnesses

If you get called to testify as a witness in one of these judicial qualification cases, you can get paid for your time and travel. This applies to regular people who are required to show up, not to government workers or officials who are already on the state's payroll.

The payment amount matches what witnesses get in regular civil court cases. This covers things like mileage for driving to the hearing and a standard witness fee for attending. The money comes from the Commission's own budget, not from any other source.

This rule makes sure that ordinary citizens who are ordered to testify aren't stuck paying out of pocket for gas, time off work, or other costs tied to showing up. It only applies to people the Commission actually requires to attend, not to those who show up voluntarily.
