Rule 8.12 Temporary removal hearings

When a child is taken out of their home under Iowa law, the court must act quickly to review that decision. A hearing has to happen within 10 days of the child being removed from home.

This hearing gives a judge the chance to look at why the child was removed and decide what should happen next. It's a way to make sure kids aren't kept away from their families longer than necessary without a judge checking on the situation. Parents and other people involved in the case can expect this review to happen fast, not weeks or months later.
