Rule 8.5 Motions for continuance in all proceedings

If someone in a juvenile court case wants to delay or postpone a hearing, they have to ask the judge for a continuance. The judge will only say yes if there's a good reason for the delay. Simply wanting more time isn't enough on its own; there needs to be a real reason behind the request.

If the judge does grant the continuance, they must write down the specific reason why in their order. This means the judge can't just delay a case without explaining why.
