Iowa Standards of Conduct for Mediators – 2026

Ten standards binding mediators who are Iowa-licensed lawyers, mediators in any court-approved mediation program, and mediators in any matter an Iowa court order or rule requires to be mediated — Rule 11.1 sets exactly that reach. The standards are self-determination (11.2), impartiality (11.3), conflicts of interest (11.4), competence (11.5), confidentiality (11.6), quality of the process (11.7), advertising and solicitation (11.8), fees and other charges (11.9), and advancement of mediation practice (11.10).
