Iowa Rules for Expanded News Media Coverage – 2026
Whether and how a courtroom may be broadcast, recorded or photographed, six rules. Rule 25.1 defines expanded news media coverage as broadcasting, recording, photographing and live electronic reporting of judicial proceedings by the news media in any medium. Rule 25.2 carries the general provisions, Rule 25.3 the procedure — including the objection a party or a witness may file — and Rule 25.4 the technical requirements. Rule 25.5 governs coverage of the supreme court and court of appeals. Rule 25.10 lists the chapter's four forms by caption: the news media coordinator's notice of request for trial and for appellate coverage, and the objections of a party and of a witness.
