Iowa Rules of the Board of Examiners of Shorthand Reporters – 2026

Seventeen rules, adopted in conjunction with Iowa Code sections 602.3101 to 602.3302 and applying to all proceedings, functions and responsibilities of shorthand reporters and the board of examiners. They run from the board's organisation and meetings (46.3) through applications, examination, certification and fees (46.4 to 46.7), the continuing education requirement and the reports and penalties attached to it (46.8 to 46.11), and then discipline: disciplinary action and its causes (46.12, 46.13), contested case proceedings (46.14) and sanctions (46.15). Rules 46.16 and 46.17 cover military service and veteran reciprocity and certification by reciprocity.
