Iowa Rules of Procedure of the Commission on the Unauthorized Practice of Law – 2026
How the commission chapter 37 creates actually works, nine rules. Rule 38.1 states that the commission, as an official arm of the court, is charged under Iowa Court Rule 37.2 with considering and investigating matters pertaining to the unauthorized practice of law and seeking its prohibition. The rules then cover the commission's officers, meetings and quorum (38.3, 38.4), complaints to the commission (38.5), the investigation procedure (38.6) and the determination that follows it (38.7), confidentiality (38.8) and immunity (38.9).
