This summary is not the rule. The rule text controls.
This rule used to require Kansas lawyers to tell the state whether they had professional liability insurance, sometimes called malpractice insurance. The idea was to let clients and the public know if a lawyer had coverage in case something went wrong with their legal work.
This rule no longer applies. It was taken out of the Kansas rules on January 1, 2021. Lawyers in Kansas are not currently required under this rule to disclose their insurance status, since the rule that once required it has been removed entirely.
If you are trying to find out whether a lawyer carries malpractice insurance today, you would need to look at current Kansas rules or ask the lawyer directly, since this particular disclosure requirement is no longer in effect.
