Kansas used to have different types of lawsuits with different names and different rules, depending on what kind of legal claim you had. This rule gets rid of all that. Now there is just one type of case, called a "civil action," no matter what your legal problem is.

This means you don't have to worry about picking the "right" type of lawsuit or using old legal labels. If you have a dispute you want to bring to court, whether it's about money owed, property, a contract, or almost anything else, you file it the same way, as a civil action. The court then handles it under one consistent set of procedures instead of different rules for different kinds of claims.
