If you're asking a court for protection from stalking, sexual assault, or human trafficking, the case will generally follow the same rules as other civil lawsuits in Kansas. These are the standard rules found in chapter 60 of Kansas law, unless the stalking and sexual assault protection law specifically says to do something different.

This also means that asking for this kind of protection order doesn't stop you from pursuing other legal options. You can still file criminal charges or pursue other civil claims at the same time. Getting a protection order under this law adds to your options rather than replacing them.
