Rule 810 Suspension from the Practice of Law

If you're a lawyer in Kansas, you have to complete a certain amount of continuing legal education (CLE) every year to keep your law license active. This rule explains what happens if you don't meet those requirements.

If the Office of Judicial Administration (OJA) finds that you failed to complete your required CLE hours, and you don't have a good reason to be excused from the requirement, the Kansas Supreme Court will suspend your law license. This means you would not be allowed to practice law until the situation is fixed.

Basically, this rule gives attorneys a chance to explain themselves before losing their license. If you missed your CLE hours because of an emergency or another valid reason, you can ask for an exception. But if you don't complete the required hours and don't provide a good enough reason, the court can stop you from practicing law.
