Small mistakes in a warrant don't let someone avoid arrest or get out of custody. If a warrant has a minor error, like a typo or small paperwork problem, that mistake alone can't be used to cancel the warrant or free a person who was arrested.

The idea behind this rule is that police and courts shouldn't lose a case just because of a clerical slip-up. As long as the warrant does its basic job of identifying the crime and the person involved, small technical errors won't undo an arrest or let someone walk free on that basis alone.

This means if you're arrested and you think there's a mistake on the warrant, that mistake by itself usually won't get you released. You would need a more serious legal problem with the warrant, not just a minor defect, to challenge your custody successfully.
