§ 22-2606 Waters constituting state boundaries.

If a crime happens on a river, lake, reservoir, or other body of water that forms the border of Kansas, the case doesn't have to be tried in one specific place. Instead, prosecutors can bring the case in any Kansas county that touches that same river, lake, or reservoir.

This rule exists because crimes on boundary waters can be tricky to pin down to one exact location. It gives prosecutors flexibility to file the case in a county that has a real connection to that body of water, even if it's not clear exactly where on the water the crime took place.
