§ 22-2717 Extension of time of commitment; adjournment.

This rule deals with what happens when someone is being held for possible return to another state, but the governor's warrant doesn't arrive in time. If the deadline passes and the person still hasn't been picked up under that warrant, a judge has a few options for what to do next.

The judge can let the person go free. Or the judge can order the person held for up to 60 more days to give more time for the warrant process to finish. Another option is letting the person post bail again, similar to before, so they can stay out of custody while they wait. If the judge chooses this bail option, it also comes with a 60 day limit from the date of the new bond.

Basically, this rule gives the court a way to handle delays without keeping someone locked up indefinitely or letting the case just fall apart. It sets clear time limits so the person isn't stuck waiting around forever, while still giving the system a chance to complete the extradition process.
