§ 22-3016 Removal of judge.

If a grand jury isn't happy with the judge assigned to work with them, they have a way to ask for a change. This rule says that if most of the grand jury members agree (a majority vote), they can request that the judge be removed from the case.

To do this, the grand jury follows the process set out in another Kansas law, K.S.A. 20-311d. That law spells out the exact steps and requirements for removing a judge. This rule doesn't create a new process on its own. Instead, it points to that existing law and confirms that grand juries have this option available to them.

This rule is also officially part of a larger section of Kansas law dealing with grand juries (article 30 of chapter 22). It works alongside those other rules rather than replacing them.
