§ 22-4206 Invalidity of part.

This rule says that if a court decides one part of this law is illegal or unconstitutional, the rest of the law still stays in effect. The invalid part gets removed, but everything else keeps working normally.

Think of the law as having many separate pieces that work together. If one piece breaks, the other pieces do not break with it. Courts can still use and enforce the parts of the law that are still valid.

This matters because it means people cannot throw out the whole law just by challenging one small section of it. Even if someone successfully argues that one part of the law is wrong, the rest of the law keeps protecting people and keeps being enforced the same way it was before.
