§ 22-4308 Citation of article.

This rule simply gives an official name to a group of related laws. It says that this section of Kansas law can be called the "Mandatory Disposition of Detainers Act."

A detainer is a hold that one state or jurisdiction places on a person who is already in custody somewhere else, usually because there are pending charges against them. This act sets up rules for how those holds must be handled and how quickly charges must move forward when someone is being held this way.

For people involved in a case, knowing this name matters because it helps you find the right laws if you're looking into how detainers work or how long they can last. If you or someone you know has a detainer from another jurisdiction, this is the act that would set out the rules and time limits that apply.
