§ 22-4518 Applicability of laws relating to aid to indigent defendants.

If you can't afford a lawyer and you're facing criminal charges, you may get help from a district defender office. This rule says that office has to follow the same general rules that apply to other public defense programs in Kansas.

In practice, this means the district defender and any deputy defenders working there must follow the same standards and requirements as other lawyers who help people who can't pay for their own defense. The rules that already exist for indigent defense (found in K.S.A. 22-4501 through 22-4514) still apply here, unless this specific rule says something different.
