Judges have to follow the law, plain and simple. This means every law that applies to them, not just the rules made specifically for judges. On top of that, they also have to follow the special code of conduct that governs how judges are supposed to act.
This rule is short, but it sets the foundation for everything else. It basically says judges are not above the law. They are held to the same legal standards as everyone else, plus an extra set of rules that make sure they act fairly and honestly while doing their job. If a judge breaks the law or violates this code, they can face consequences, including discipline from the court system that oversees judges.
