Rule 621 Costs

This rule explains who has to pay the costs of a disciplinary case against a lawyer. If the lawyer is cleared of wrongdoing, they don't have to pay any costs at all. But if the lawyer receives some form of discipline, like a warning, an order to stop certain behavior, or another penalty, then costs will be divided fairly between the parties involved.

These costs can cover several things. This includes fees for court reporters who record and type up transcripts from depositions or other hearings, payments to witnesses for their time and expenses, and a standard docket fee charged for processing the case.

In short, lawyers who are found not guilty don't pay a dime toward the case costs. Lawyers who are disciplined in some way will likely have to help cover the expenses that came up during the process.
