Court records don't stay on file forever, and they don't all get thrown out at the same time either. How long records are kept depends on a schedule set up by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) and the Court of Justice.

If you need to know how long a specific type of court record is kept, you can look up the official schedule yourself. It's posted online on the Kentucky Court of Justice website, under the Supreme Court's Rules & Procedures page.

This rule mainly matters if you're trying to get an old court record or want to know when a record might be destroyed. Checking the posted schedule will tell you exactly how long that type of document sticks around.
