Family recovery court cases are kept private. This means court hearings and staff meetings about a family's case are closed to the public. Only the judge running the program can decide to open things up or make an exception.

Everyone who works on these cases, like counselors, case workers, and other program staff, has to sign an agreement promising to keep information private. This matches federal rules that protect people getting treatment for substance use problems.

The people running these programs also have to follow other state and federal privacy laws that protect treatment records. This means your personal health information and details about your treatment stay confidential and are not shared with people who don't need to know them.
