93.02 Interrogatories

Here's what this rule means in practice:

If you're involved in a civil case in Kentucky and want to send written questions to the other side (called interrogatories), you have to follow the same basic process laid out in Rule 33. But there's a limit here that doesn't exist elsewhere: you can only send 20 questions to any one party.

Each of those 20 questions also has to stick to just one topic or issue. You can't pack multiple questions into one numbered item to get around the limit. For example, you can't ask something like "What is your address, and where did you work for the last five years, and who was your supervisor?" as a single question. That would need to be broken into separate questions, and each one would count toward your total of 20.

This rule keeps discovery focused and prevents one side from overwhelming the other with an endless list of questions. If you need more information beyond what 20 well-crafted questions can cover, you'll likely need to use other discovery tools, like depositions or requests for documents, to fill in the gaps.
